Fletcher Studio is an award-winning landscape architecture and urban design collaborative, based in San Francisco’s Dogpatch neighborhood. We offer comprehensive professional services in landscape architecture, urban design and environmental planning, our current projects include public open space, urban masterplanning and streetscapes, civic plazas, and landscapes for multi-family housing projects. We’re looking for…

  • Fletcher Studio seeks a mid-level landscape architect to lead projects ranging from public open spaces, urban streetscapes, civic plazas, multi-family housing, and urban master planning. As project lead/mid-level landscape architect, you’ll work closely with Studio Principals to develop and implement design objectives, manage design staff, and coordinate with consultants and clients while maintaining these essential relationships.

    About the role:

    As a landscape architect at Fletcher Studio, you will lead the design process on a variety of projects, from conceptual development to detailed construction documentation. You will be a design leader, working closely with both junior and senior team members to create compelling landscapes that balance creativity, sustainability, and functionality. You will guide project teams, mentor emerging designers, and contribute to the studio’s design vision and culture.

    In the first three months you will:

    • Develop innovative and contextually responsive design concepts that align with client goals and project requirements.

    • Contribute to all phases of design, from initial concept, construction documentation, and construction administration.

    • Manage multiple projects concurrently, balancing creative vision with practical considerations such as budget, timeline, and constructability.

    • Engage directly with clients, stakeholders, and community members to present design ideas, gather feedback, and build consensus.

    • Conduct site analysis and research to inform design decisions, including ecological, cultural, and technical aspects.

    Over time you will:

    • Mentor junior and mid-level designers, providing guidance, feedback, and fostering professional growth.

    • Contribute significantly to the design direction of projects of varying complexity and scale.

    • Promote a collaborative and innovative team environment, encouraging design excellence.

    • Identify and create training resources for staff to continually elevate and innovate through design at Fletcher Studio.


    Qualifications      

    • MLA, BLA, BSLA, MArch or BArch required.

    • 7 to 10 years of experience in a professional landscape architecture setting, with a strong portfolio showcasing design leadership on built projects.

    • Licensed Landscape Architect or actively pursuing licensure.

    • Exceptional graphic communication skills, with the ability to articulate design ideas through hand sketches, 3D renderings, diagrams, and presentation materials.

    • Excellent 3D and 2D design skills with proficiency in AutoCAD, Sketchup, Rhino, and Adobe Creative Suite.

    • Proven ability to lead and manage project teams, ensuring high-quality design outcomes and adherence to schedules and budgets.

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience in client presentations and community engagement.

    • Knowledge of CA plant materials appreciated.


    Compensation

    The salary range for this full time position will be commensurate with the candidate's experience with a competitive benefits package of Health Insurance, Personal Time Off, Paid Sick Leave, Holidays, and a 401k plan with a matching component.


    Location

    In-office with the option to work at home 1 day/week after a positive 6-month review.

  • Fletcher Studio seeks a Student Intern to join our team of creative and innovative changemakers for Summer 2026. Your future colleagues thrive on positive critical feedback, are eager to learn, and are always game for a design challenge.  

    About the Role

    The Student Intern will participate in design, modeling and construction documentation under the supervision of senior staff. Typical workload is 2 to 3 projects at a time of varying landscape types and scales depending on ability. Interns work with multiple senior staff in the office, gain exposure to a variety of design and working styles, grow technical skills and are exposed to multiple phases of design projects including schematic design, construction documentation and construction observance.

    Qualifications

    • Currently pursuing MLA, BLA, BSLA, MArch or BArch 

    • Previous office experience appreciated but not required

    • Strong design and graphic sense with the ability to verbally and graphically communicate design ideas, moving between hand sketches and digital

    • Excellent 3D and 2D design skills with proficiency in AutoCAD 

    • An eagerness and curiosity to learn all areas of practice

    • Strong work discipline, with self-management skills

    • Team-oriented with superior verbal and written communications skills

    • Ability to manage time and self-edit work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and multiple concurrent projects

    • Proactive communication, strong work ethic and solutions-oriented ideas are highly valued

  • The Executive Assistant and Special Projects Manager will coordinate several of our small firm’s operational duties and help administer our office procedures, ensuring the workplace operates smoothly and efficiently. The ideal candidate is highly organized and has a proven track record in a professional office environment; a selfstarter who is precise, courteous and efficient in the professional communications to the larger office team and to external consultants and clients. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required and the ability to implement systems and procedures.

    The Executive Assistant and Special Projects Manager acts as the coordinator for Principals to schedule and communicate with the studio team and also to external project teams and consultants.  While unique in the Studio, the position is highly valued and offers opportunities for growth in assisting the Studio with business development and in guarding the Studio’s culture. 

    Essential Responsibilities:

    • Support principals as an Executive Assistant by managing complex calendars, planning travel, communicating internally and externally as directed, and supporting some personal requests as needed to enable efficiency.

    • Develop, manage and track the studio’s general calendar and scheduling meetings involving more than one staff member, clients, and external colleagues.

    • Facilitate communication within the studio and on behalf of the studio, serving as the front line for inquiries directed to the Studio, and directing phone, email and mail appropriately.

    • Coordinate and facilitate weekly studio staffing meetings, setting the agenda, and updating action items.

    • Coordinate Studio special events and gatherings, including but not limited to booking facilities, procuring equipment, confirming all arrangements, and sending invitations.

    • Draft and manage marketing communications and publication requests. Draft and finalize texts including website content, social media, project proposals and general correspondence. 

    • Coordinate with consulting graphic designer and photographers. This includes organizing special projects and photography of the Studio’s projects.

    • Support staff recruiting by proactively communicating with applicants, managing files, and facilitating a smooth interview process.

    • Actively maintain the Studio’s contacts, mailing lists, subscriptions and memberships.

    • Organize and maintain the Studio’s files, both physical and digital, as well as the materials library, technical library and archive.

    • Monitor and maintain the studio’s business license.

    • Book travel for Studio staff as well as visiting clients and consultants, including hotel reservations and transportation.

    • Under the direction of the Human Resources consultant, onboard new hires in general office procedures, schedule employee reviews, and assist with benefits onboarding.

    Qualifications and Skills:

    • Education and Training: Bachelor’s degree minimum. 

    • Work Experience: Minimum five to seven years professional Executive Assistance and/or Office Management experience.

    • Proficiency with Google Suite of products or Microsoft Office, including Google Calendar, Docs, and Sheets.

    • Excellent writing, communication, and organization skills and attention to detail. Demonstration of correct English usage, including spelling, grammar, punctuation, and vocabulary.

    • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, colleagues, and the public, whether in person, on the telephone, or in writing.

    • Ability to organize work, set priorities, meet critical deadlines, and follow-up on assignments with a minimum of direction.

    • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.

    • Knowledge of standard professional practices, including letter/email writing, filing, scheduling, database management, time and project management software, virtual meeting applications, answering telephones, and the operation of common office equipment.
