A network of safe, intelligent and engaging spaces

The Walking School Bus is community-led program that traverse Potrero Hill picking up students along the way and safely walking them to one of the two schools in the area. Fletcher Studio worked with the community in an effort to identify ways to make the walking route more identifiable and playful along with the design of traffic calming elements to increase the visibility and safety along the journey. The path leads through three neighborhoods with distinct personalities and demographic make-ups. The path along which the students walk takes on a graphic language reflecting the unique neighborhood it passes through.
