We offer comprehensive professional services in landscape architecture, urban design and environmental planning, our current projects include public open space, urban masterplanning and streetscapes, civic plazas, and landscapes for multi-family housing projects.   • Fletcher Studio seeks a seasoned Technical Landscape Architect and Project Manager to join our team, focusing on both production drawing development and construction administration. This role is ideal for someone with extensive production and construction experience, who is dedicated to delivering high-design projects with technical innovation.

    About the role:

    Fletcher Studio is seeking a Landscape Architect / Project Manager to help lead the coordination, documentation, and delivery of our design projects from concept through construction. This role is ideal for someone with at least 8 years of experience who is confident managing people, timelines, and communication across teams—and who’s excited to deepen their technical and construction knowledge over time.

    You’ll act as a key connector between our design staff, clients, consultants, and contractors, ensuring that projects move forward smoothly and that the design vision is realized in built work. This position is suited to someone with strong organizational skills, a collaborative mindset, and a solid foundation in landscape architecture practice.

    In the first three months you will:

    • Lead day-to-day coordination across internal teams, clients, consultants, and contractors.

    • Support the development of drawing sets and technical documentation, helping manage deadlines, feedback cycles, and consultant input.

    • Ensure that all drawings are accurate, comprehensive, and compliant with design specifications and regulatory standards.

    • Schedule and facilitate project meetings, ensuring clarity on next steps, deliverables, and responsibilities.

    • Assist with construction observation and coordination, helping track progress, identify issues, and communicate clearly with the project team.

    • Manage project schedules and task assignments to keep teams aligned and on time.

    • Track project budgets in collaboration with firm leadership and support contract compliance.

    Over time you will:

    • Address any client and stakeholder concerns, ensuring clear communication and resolution of issues.

    • Take full ownership of project schedules, budgets, and client communication.

    • Guide team members in prioritizing work, resolving issues, and meeting deadlines.

    • Support quality control for documentation and help implement best practices across the studio.

    • Collaborate with senior leadership to manage firm resources across multiple projects.

    • Provide mentorship and guidance to designers on both project management and design process.

    • Grow into a leadership role in firm operations, helping shape our systems, culture, and delivery methods.

    Qualifications

    • A degree in Landscape Architecture or a related design discipline (MLA, BLA, BSLA, MArch, or BArch).

    • 8+ years of professional experience in landscape architecture, urban design, or a related field.

    • Strong project management and coordination skills; confident managing people, timelines, and multiple workstreams.

    • A solid understanding of the design and construction process.

    • Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills.

    • Strong organizational habits and attention to detail.

    • Proactive, solution-oriented approach to problem-solving.

    • Familiarity with construction processes and willingness to build technical knowledge over time.

    • Experience with California plant materials and construction standards is a plus.

    • Licensure (PLA) is a plus but not required—support for licensure is available.

    Compensation

    The salary range for this full time position is $85,000 to $100,000 depending on qualifications and experience.

    About the role:

    As a landscape designer with Fletcher Studio, you’ll participate in design, modeling, and construction documentation. Designers work closely with senior staff, gain exposure to a variety of design and working styles, and grow technical and project management skills. The typical workload is 2 to 3 projects at a time of varying landscape types and scales.

    In the first three months you will:

    • Contribute to the design process as an engaged member of project teams

    • Meet one-on-one with each member of our team

    • Have a mentor to help you become familiar with the FS design process, studio tools and software, and favorite neighborhood restaurants

    • Visit at least one of our regional project sites that is actively under construction

    • Attend client meetings

    Over time you will:

    • Gain experience in all phases of the design process

    • Build a working knowledge of materials and share our interest in crafting details

    • Grow into a leadership position for project teams and lead all aspects of project delivery

    • Pursue professional development opportunities to continue learning and growing your skillset

    • Contribute significantly to the design direction of projects of varying complexity and scale

    • Influence and help guide the firm culture

    • Pursue licensure to become a landscape architect

    Qualifications           

    • MLA, BLA, BSLA, MArch or BArch required

    • 2 to 4 years of experience in a professional office

    • Authorized to work in the United States (current citizen, current H1B or Green Card)

    • Strong design and graphic sense with the ability to verbally and graphically communicate design ideas, moving between hand sketches and digital

    • Excellent 3D and 2D design skills with proficiency in AutoCAD

    • Strong preference for candidates with intermediate Sketchup skills

    • An eagerness and curiosity to learn all areas of practice

    • Strong work discipline, with self-management skills

    • Other desirable qualifications: Detail-oriented. Interest in diversity of project types with unique challenges. Enthusiasm for ingenious use of materials.

    • Knowledge of CA plant materials appreciated.

    • Team-oriented with superior verbal and written communications skills

    • Ability to manage time and self-edit work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and multiple concurrent projects

    • Proactive communication, strong work ethic and solutions-oriented ideas are highly valued

    Compensation

    The salary range for this full time position is $65,000 to $80,000 depending on qualifications and experience.
