4% of Fletcher Studio’s yearly profit is devoted to pro-bono and low-bono community projects…

…projects just like yours.

Hope+Space is about working to support communities in the Bay Area and beyond… We want to collaborate with neighbors, “friends of” groups, civic leaders, and dedicated individuals on public spaces such as pop-up parks, vacant lots, community gardens, pollinator gardens, green infrastructure, urban interventions, street conversions, waterfronts, and public open spaces.

We believe that everyone deserves access to memorable and meaningful public spaces. We seek to collaborate with your communities to realize your visions. If you have a project in need please fill out the application form below and tell us how we might help.

“It’s welcome, but not always surprising, to see good design in expensive private projects. When ad hoc, budget-constrained, public spaces receive the same level of design attention and love, it’s marvelous – both in its egalitarianism and in the way it contributes to the overall urban fabric. Fletcher Studio has been an eager, resourceful and indispensable partner in the Green Benefit District’s efforts to transform our ragged industrial corner into a green and delight-filled neighborhood.”
- Julie Christensen, Executive Director, Green Benefit District

“After months of neglect due to pandemic restrictions, the Fletcher team has been essential in reviving the Texas Street Farm. They have helped to bring our garden back to life and make it our sanctuary again; providing plants, hard work, and a warm spirit. I love that they have become such an essential part of our garden.”
- Steve Pulliam, Texas Street Community Garden

    Absolutely…

  • WHO WILL MAINTAIN THE SPACE AFTER IT’S BEEN INSTALLED?
    We can help with that.
We strive to make all of our work low maintenance. This has less to do with economics and more to do with the high lifecycle costs of designed landscapes. We strive to reduce the inputs of resources, chemicals, etc. over time. We will also help develop a maintenance regimen and identify funding and support for maintenance…

  • CAN I SUBMIT A PROJECT TO BE DONE IN PHASES?
Yes, we typically help with phasing and funding strategies…

  • CAN I KEEP YOUR PLANS AND DRAWINGS?
Certainly! Your project, your site, and your community are so unique. The design solution that would evolve from our collaboration would be one of a kind. We would simply care that it not be replicated elsewhere…

  • I DON’T HAVE A PHYSICAL PROJECT SPACE YET, CAN YOU HELP ME FIND A POTENTIAL ONE?
    W
e can help you prioritize and choose. The main thing is that you and your neighbors are invested in the space or spaces…
