Lauren Ewald, ASLA, PLA – Principal
Lauren joined the studio in 2017 as a Designer, and grew over the years into a Project Manager and our Studio Director. She led the design and documentation efforts for bio-tech campuses, multi-family housing and commercial projects, parks across California, various forest cemeteries, and our Hope+Space projects. Lauren is a force in our office pushing the design and innovation of our work, and is always looking for opportunities to add meaning to what we do, and bring greater open space access to more communities. In Lauren’s new role as Principal she will provide dedicated design leadership across our projects, work alongside the team to develop projects, and continue to support daily studio operations. We’re excited to see how Lauren grows into this new role internally and externally.
Lauren has touched many of our projects, but most notably has her hands on our masterplanning projects (OCVIBE, Healdsburg Connectivity Masterplan, Vantage Masterplan), biotech campuses (Vantage Campus, Nexus on Grand), parks (Jackson Park, Hunters View Park, Meadow Park, Badger Park, Laura Fish Somersal Park), commercial sites (Better Place Forests, Marshall Square), multi-family housing (Hamilton Webster), and Hope+Space (Golden Gate Greenway, Ogden Street).

Natalie Martell, ASLA, PLA – Senior Associate
Since joining as a Landscape Architect in 2021, Natalie has contributed her leadership, design and organization skills to everything she touches. As a Project Manager, Natalie has led the design development and documentation efforts for public parks, commercial landscapes, institutional tech campuses, multi-family housing projects, streetscapes, and our Hope+Space projects. Natalie is detail-oriented and thorough, whether it be solving a technical design issue or strategizing a proposal response or marketing push. In Natalie’s new role as Senior Associate she will continue to lead project development, mentor junior staff, and support the office’s technical assets and marketing assets. We are proud to celebrate Natalie, and we are looking forward to seeing her continue to develop and grow into her own leadership style.
Natalie’s work is highlighted in our biotech campuses (Vantage Phase 2, Pointe Grand Masterplan), many of our parks (Hunters View Phase III: Park, Heritage Park, Laura Fish Somersal Park), commercial sites (The Loom, Marin VMA Plaza), multi-family housing (Bishop Ranch BR1A Housing, Hunters View Phase III: Block 14+17 Affordable Housing, East Santa Clara Hawthorn Affordable Senior Housing), and many of our Hope+Space projects (Ziggy Playground, Turning Point - Larkin Street Youth Services, MinneSLOWta Street, College Avenue Medians).

Anqi (Andie) Zhao, ASLA, PLA – Associate and Senior Designer
Andie first joined as a Landscape Design Intern in 2021 and has since grown her design, technical and communication skills into an instrumental Designer on our project teams. Andie is seen by her peers as a creative and knowledgeable force, and has contributed to many of our projects, but most recently spearheads our masterplanning graphics and production for OCVIBE, as well as the technical documentation of publicly accessible parks and plazas on the same project. Over the years she has supported numerous multi-family housing projects, streetscape designs, biotech campus work, park designs, and our Hope+Space projects. In Andie’s new role as an Associate and Senior Designer, she will continue to advance design concepts and coordinate project development and documentation. We are thrilled to see her step into a more prominent leadership role for both our internal teams and external collaborators. This is a well-deserved step in Andie’s career, and we look forward to seeing her continued evolution as a designer and leader.
Andie’s contributions to the studio are hard to capture in a list, but her major achievements include masterplanning and design for OCVIBE, biotech campuses (Vantage Campus, Genentech B39), many parks (Heritage Park, Jackson Park, OCVIBE Meadow Park), commercial sites (The Loom), multi-family housing (Bishop Ranch BR1A Housing, Hunters Point Block 56 Affordable Housing, 1633 Valencia Affordable Housing), and several of our Hope+Space projects (Minnesota Street Flyover, Ogden Avenue Gardens, Texas Street Farm).
